The Effects of Environmental Modifications on Improving the Sleep Quality of the Elderly Hospitalized in the Cardiac Care Unit

Background: Sleep deprivation is a common problem among the elderly in cardiac care unit (CCU). Objectives: The present study aimed to determine effects of environmental modifications on sleep quality improvement these people. Methods: population included 60 patients whose was assessed by Pittsburgh Quality Index with even domains. factors that can disturb were determined via questionnaire, including 13 questions 5-point Likert scale. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses performed SPSS 22 software independent sample student t-test chi-square. Results: After modifications, total scores changed from 11.8 5.96, indicating improvement. Before executing there no significant correlations between demographic variables (sex, age, marital status, economic status). However, after relationship status (P = 0.024).
